Happyness Quote Day 31 – Gratitude

DFS_JBR 039

Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer.

Maya Angelou

When we appreciate all that we have in life, our egos step out of the way, inviting even greater abundance into our lives.
Practicing gratitude for our lives – for the air we breathe, for our magnificent bodies, and the beauty of being alive – is a wonderful place to start. From this, we can expand outward, like ripples in a still pond, appreciating everything and everyone we encounter and those who touch our lives as well.
What are you thankful for today?

Happyness Quote Day 19 – Power

All the powers in the universe are already ours.

Swami Vivekananda

As we get connected to our natural expression of strength—we become power-full, rather than having power-over. We call in the unconquerable power of the oceans and the wind. Within, we find the power of a seed to sprout and a heart to heal. As we connect and activate this universal power personally, we experience more confidence, greater self-esteem, and a quiet trust that allows us to meet any demand or situation that life may send our way.

NaPoWriMo Day 16 – Days of Gigs

Dub Fest 2014

Dub Fest 2014 – Dubai, UAE

I live today with touch of genuine smile;
And make a wish to last until midnight,
To share the joys, guffaws, chuckles one time.

No more sorrow to care and bear in sight
With merriment and cheers I bring to all,
Dancing, singing, goofing, circus delight.

Promise before sunrise to laugh — farewell.

NaPoWriMo prompt to mark the Halfway of our challenge is to write a poem in terza merza. This form was invented by Dante, and used in The Divine Comedy. It consists of three-line stanzas, with a “chained” rhyme scheme. The first stanza is ABA, the second is BCB, the third is CDC, and so on. No particular meter is necessary, but English poets have tended to default to iambic pentameter (iambic pentameter is like the Microsoft Windows of English poetry).

NaPoWriMo Day 10 – In My Eyes

Ceramics - Spice Souq

Ceramics – Spice Souq, Dubai

As i reached to embrace you, it’s the sweetest
And when i hold you, i don’t want to let go
Your presence comforts me, your love secures me
But how to let you know when no words i know

How to tell you i wanted to stay by your side;
How i wanted to cling on your arms;
Your touch heals me, your voice softens me
But how can I say the words when all i know

In my eyes, you’re the bravest;
In my eyes, you’re the loveliest;
In my eyes, you’re the best.
And in my eyes, you’re the rarest.

I call you ‘Mama’, and it sounds so sweet.
When i’m so stubborn, you’re patience immeasurable;
When i spread my wings, you let me fly;
And when i fell, you’re there to pick me up.

How grateful i am for the strength you give me;
I am always in awe for the love you shower me;
You’re in my thoughts, you’re in my heart;
And In My Eyes, We are Always One.

This poem is specially dedicated to my Mom, who is celebrating her birthday today. May she always be blessed, with happiness, joy, peacefulness, good health and love.

NaPoWriMo Day 9 – A Day Out to Nirvana (from Ithaca)

Jumeirah Open Beach - Dubai

Jumeirah Open Beach – Dubai

As you set your day out to Nirvana
May it be very long – full of happiness, full of love
The Hatred and the Guilt, and the vicious Pride –
do not think of them, such never exists
As long as your thought is set high, and your heart
and emotion connect to your spirit and soul.
The Hatred and the Guilt, and the vicious Pride –
you will never meet them on the way
unless you let them seat in your soul,
unless your soul raise them and make a dwelling in you.

May it be very long – full of happiness, full of love
Now that the summer has dawned, you see the ports
With lots of laughter and gratitude, you see it the first time
To ride on a wooden boat, to gallop with horses,
to stop on a trading souqs and to buy good merchandise –
Iranian textiles to colorful ceramics, fragrant
cinnamon, frankincense and incense of every kind,
herbs and spices as amply as you can;
To visit many sikkas and cities
to acquire pearls of knowledge from the learned.

Think of Nirvana wherever you maybe
Arriving there is what you set-out for
But set your pace in tune with Sun, or
Let it last for hours and hours
So that when you reach the island you are aged,
Aged with richness of wisdom gained on the journey,
Not expecting Nirvana to give you abundance.
Nirvana gave you a marvelous adventure
She’s the reason why you have set-out on your way.

And if you found her deserted and poor, Nirvana hasn’t deceived you
What have you become, of such experience and the journey
With that you’ll have understood what this Nirvana mean.

(Re-written Poem from C.P. Cavafy’s Ithaca)

NaPoWriMo Day 8 – Sway of the Dancing Fountain

Dancing Fountain - Burj Lake, Dubai

Dancing Fountain; Photo by: macnusser

Swish, swash, the water splash
Straight up, and side to side;
That is her sway under the moonlight.

Swish, swash, the water splash again
Now bends from east to west;
That is her sway in sync of the tune.

In an infinity curve, the waters spurt
Bursting, rushing, chasing each other
There is no end but to all in embrace.

In symphony of music they dance
Swaying like ballerinas on a pedestal
There is no end but in time to say goodbye.

I smile when I see you dance;
I am in awe to watch you move.
You make me sing when you play your song;
But it feels so sad, it’s time to say goodbye.
