NaPoWriMo Day 4 – Metamorphosis

Dubai Lights Festival - Dubai

Dubai Festival of Lights – Dubai, UAE

Plain and dull –
Light of daytime brings you,
Let it be!

Beneath the skyline –
Red orb sun sinks in,
Rejoice in it!

Array of crystals –
Beautiful translucent balls you are,
See it through!

Vibrant and colorful –
Night of elegance we savor,
Dwell with us!

From mere plastic –
Transformed, molded and hand painted,
And now illuminated!

Bright and cheerful –
Beauty inside light brings you,
Let it be!

I attempted to follow the writing prompt of the day presented in NaPoWriMo website, that is to write a lune. A lune is a sort of English-language variation of Haiku, meant to better render the tone of the Japanese haiku. There are a couple of variants on the lune form, but today we tried the version developed by Jack Collum. His version of the lune involves a three-line stanza – the first line has 3 words, the second line has 5 words, and the third line has 3 words.
